Abstract

Sebastián M. Santillán and colleagues from the Departments of Kinesiology and Family and Community Medicine provide a Spanish version of the DEMMI functional mobility scale in hospitalized older adults to estimate the level of support they will require upon discharge.


Tomás Barrera and collaborators from the Laboratory of Statistics Applied to Health Sciences (LEACS) of the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, evaluate the score and self-perception of the effect of having served as a teaching assistant during undergraduate training on performance in the municipal medical residency examination.


Spinal muscular atrophy is the leading genetic cause of death in childhood. It affects spinal and bulbar motor neurons, causing muscle atrophy. Javier Antonio Muntadas Rausei, from the Department of Pediatric Neurology, reviews the published experience and the opportunity for early intervention.

Good-quality sleep is fundamental in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. Agustín González Cardozo, Vanesa Antonella Vera, and Stella Maris Valiensi, from the Sleep Medicine Section of the Department of Neurology, review the importance of sleep in immunity.


The pandemic forced the accelerated implementation of telemedicine as a means of shifting from in-person care to virtual care. Cintia L. Giménez and collaborators from the Department of Health Informatics analyze the process of adaptation and digital transformation that made it possible to ensure continuity of care in our institution.


Mariana L. Pedace and collaborators from the Departments of Psychiatry, Pediatric Rheumatology, Myelomeningocele Clinic, Pediatric Medicine, Pediatric Mental Health, the Art in Health Team, the Department of Social Responsibility, the Undergraduate Department, and the Graduate Department of the University Institute developed a project based on the Narrative Medicine model that enabled professionals to narrate their experiences during the pandemic.
