Definition

The Revista del Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (E-ISSN 2314-3312) is a quarterly scientific publication, published continuously since 1981 by the Universidad Hospital Italiano (UHI). Published in Spanish and English, its content is peer-reviewed using a double-blind method and distributed online under an open access model.

Starting in 2024, it will adopt a continuous publication frequency (online first), which means that approved and formatted articles will be published immediately online, without having to wait for a specific issue to be published. However, published articles will subsequently be organized into four annual issues, corresponding to the months of March, June, September, and December.

The journal publishes original and relevant works in the field of health sciences and related areas, accepting contributions from authors around the world. The entire editorial and publication process is free of charge for authors.

In line with the principles of Open Science (see recommendations of the Budapest Open Access Initiative), the Journal of the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires implements a publication model that favors immediacy in dissemination, contributing to the growth of knowledge in the discipline, the visibility and impact of authors, shortening the time it takes to access peer-reviewed literature, and strengthening communication between authors and readers.

The journal is open access and published under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (see Open Access Policy), which allows the reading, distribution, and reuse of content with attribution, for non-commercial purposes, and under the same license.

The sections of the journal include: Original Article, Brief Communications, Review, Brief Review, Medical Education, Clinical Cases, Medical Images, Ask the Expert, Notes on Statistics and Research, Medical Videos, Research Updates and Advances, Humanities, and Letters to the Editor.

The journal is indexed in  DOAJ, Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas, Latindex Catálogo 2.0 y Lilacs [see +].
