Complications of celiac disease
Main Article Content
Abstract
Celiac disease (CD) is an autoinmune disorder precipitated, in genetically predisposed people, by the ingestion of gluten. The therapy for the disease is a gluten-free diet; however, in some patients the response to therapy is poor and they evolve with persistent o recurrent symptoms and a substantial proportion may have rare complications such as cancer. After lymphoma, adenocarcinoma is the most common malignant neoplasm of the small bowel (MNSB) in patients with CD. Close medical follow up and the use of advanced imaging techniques allow early diagnosis and treatment with potential cure
