Simple solutions to complex problems in endovascular revascularizatioon of the lower limb: the infrapatellar retrograde access
Main Article Content
Abstract
Currently the endovascular treatment is the treatment of first choice for multiple workgroups in patients with critical limb ischemia and affectation of infrapopliteal vessels in relation to clinical outcome and low complication rate. However when occlusions are chronic, widespread and abundant calcium component technical failure of revascularization is between 10-40%, when performed by an antegrade approach(femoral). To decrease the rate of technical failure in the revascularization, retrograde approaches emerged which are made on the pedal artery, anterior tibial artery, posterior tibial artery or peroneal artery, achieving target vessel revascularization even in up to 90% of the vessels in which had failed for antegrade or femoral approach. This type of approach allows us to obtain a very high rate of revascularization with low risks associated with the puncture site
